FERROKITS PRODUCT LINE · SHELTERS
Three shelter systems for three levels of commitment. Above-ground. Split-level. Completely underground. Ferrocement throughout. Built to outlast you.
CHOOSE YOUR SERIES
Pick the level of protection you need. Each series is a different commitment — above-ground for fast deployment, underground for maximum protection, ADU for dual-use living.
ENTRY LEVEL · 3 MODELSBarebones. Spartan. Built to Survive.
The Baby Bunker is the most accessible shelter in the Am-Cor lineup — above-ground or split-level, built from monolithic ferrocement, and engineered to do the one thing most shelters fail at: actually getting built. No permit required under 256 sq.ft. in most jurisdictions.
Orange & Culpeper County (VA): under 256 sq.ft. (76m²) — no permit required. Most U.S. jurisdictions: verify under "accessory structure." Tip: classify as a storm shelter, not a bunker.
MAX PROTECTION · FULL SUBTERRANEANCompletely Underground. Completely Invisible.
The Burrow goes underground — completely. Tunnel access, hidden entry points, multiple egress options. The highest level of protection in the Am-Cor lineup. Designed for SHTF scenarios where the above-ground environment is no longer tenable: nuclear fallout, severe civil unrest, chemical events.
A building permit is required for all Burrow installations. Am-Cor provides engineering drawings and material data sheets for permit submission. Classified as an "underground accessory structure."
VERSATILE · LIVEABLE · DEFENSIBLEADU. Safe Room. Hard Point.
Not just a bunker — an Accessory Dwelling Unit that doubles as an impenetrable safe room. Safe from storms, bullets, winds, and uninvited guests. Designed to blend into your property as an outdoor structure. Ferrocement exoskeleton over a functional living space.
Permit requirements vary by jurisdiction. As an ADU, standard residential permit pathways apply in most counties. Am-Cor provides architectural drawings for submission.

Am-Cor installation support
Remote installation guidance and on-site support available. Crew training included with kit.
Not included: ventilation system (HEPA + carbon filter), water cistern, power system, interior finishing, excavation. Am-Cor can recommend partner vendors.
CBRN PROTECTION
Ferrocement walls provide mass-based gamma radiation shielding. But mass alone doesn't stop airborne threats. For full CBRN protection, every Am-Cor shelter includes a pre-cast ventilation port housing — designed to accept a positive-pressure HEPA + activated carbon filtration system. This is the critical component that separates a shelter from a sealed box.
Chemical Agents
Activated carbon filtration removes nerve agents, blister agents, and industrial chemicals from incoming air
Biological Hazards
HEPA H14 filtration captures 99.995% of particles ≥0.3μm — including aerosolized biological agents
Radiological
9–10" ferrocement walls + earth overburden provides meaningful gamma shielding. Follow the 7-10 rule: 14 days clears most fallout.
Nuclear Fallout
Positive pressure + sealed entry prevents fallout particles from infiltrating. The structure itself is non-porous and non-reactive.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
Order & Engineering
Week 1–2
Kit configured to your dimensions and site conditions. Engineering package generated.
Kit Fabrication & Shipping
Week 2–8
Mesh armature pre-cut at factory. Mortar, hardware, and hardware kitted and crated.
Site Prep & Excavation
Week 8–10
Excavation depth depends on series. Baby Bunker above-ground: minimal dig. Burrow: 8–12 ft.
Assembly & Plaster
Week 10–13
Mesh erected, mortar applied in 3 coats over 2–3 weeks. Each coat must cure before the next.
Sealed & Habitable
Week 13–17
Hatch or door installed, ventilation port fitted, waterproofing applied. Structure is habitable.
FREQUENTLY ASKED
Do I need a permit to build a backyard bunker?
It depends on size and location. In Orange and Culpeper County, VA, structures under 256 sq.ft. (76m²) do not require a permit. Most U.S. jurisdictions have permit thresholds for accessory structures — typically 200–300 sq.ft. underground. File under "storm shelter" rather than "bunker" — it has a cleaner code pathway. Am-Cor provides engineering drawings for permit submission with every kit.
How long can my family survive in the shelter?
Survival duration depends on water, food, power, and air. The kit itself provides the structure. Plan for 1 gallon of water per person per day, 2,000 cal/person/day of shelf-stable food, and filtered air. A BB-256 for 4 people with a 500-gallon cistern and 30-day food supply handles most SHTF scenarios. The 7-10 rule on nuclear fallout means 14 days underground typically clears the worst of it.
What threats does ferrocement protect against (CBRN)?
Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear — all require sealed, filtered air. The ferrocement shell provides mass-based gamma radiation shielding (9–10" = meaningful attenuation) and a non-porous surface that won't absorb chemical or biological agents. The critical addition for CBRN is the ventilation system: positive-pressure filtered air input using HEPA + activated carbon. This is separate from the kit and must be sized to your space.
How many people does each shelter hold?
Rule of thumb: 50–75 sq.ft. per person for stays over 2 weeks. A BB-150 handles 2–3 people for 14 days. A BB-400 handles 6–8 people comfortably for 30 days with bunks and dedicated storage. Burrow series scales to 12–20 people for extended duration.
Can I install a Baby Bunker on my existing property without major excavation?
Above-ground and split-level Baby Bunker models require minimal excavation — some can be built with as little as 18" of earth cut. Full Burrow Series requires excavation to 8–12 feet depending on model. Am-Cor can recommend excavation contractors in most regions.
When should I start building?
Now. Kit lead times are 6–8 weeks for Baby Bunker, 8–12 weeks for Burrow Series. Construction takes 2–5 weeks with a trained crew. Total timeline: 10–17 weeks from order to habitable. Hurricane season starts June 1. If you wait until you need it, you've already lost the window. Material and fuel costs continue to climb.
PROTECTION UPGRADES
Every Baby Bunker ships as a complete structural kit. These upgrades extend protection beyond the shell — from ballistics to air filtration to perimeter hardening.
Rammed-Earth Wall Core
BALLISTIC · THERMAL
Double ferrocement walls with compacted rammed earth in the cavity. Adds meaningful ballistic resistance and dramatically increases thermal mass. Best for above-ground Baby Bunker models in exposed locations.

Solid Core
MAXIMUM PROTECTION
Poured concrete walls and roof in lieu of standard ferrocement shell. Maximum ballistic resistance and radiation attenuation. Significantly heavier — requires engineered foundation. Recommended for Burrow Series in highest-threat scenarios.
